This is why I don’t like most media. Why didn’t I know about this person before their death? Instead it’s an endless stream of political scorekeeping and manufactured outrage of the day. People FB or Tweet endless talking points and “gotchas” while there are amazing people in all walks of life doing amazing things.
If I ran a paper, I would have pre-obituaries. I would have this exact article but before she died so people would know about them.
In Chicago we have tons of universities filled with researchers doing amazing things. We have charities and NGO’s and all sorts of people helping others or building businesses, inventing things, whatever it is. We don’t get to read their stories. Would it kill the Tribune or Sun-Times to devote some space each day to someone kicking ass?
It’s really a shame. I think people would feel better about the world if major outlets focused just 25% of their attention on the accomplishments of people instead of gossip, Kardashians, and bullshit partisan rhetoric.
Anyway, skip my rant but read about this extraordinary person.
